Opportunities

Graduate

The Hosein group is currently seeking motivated doctoral students (PhD) to join in the Fall of 2020 to conduct research on the synthesis and characterization of new materials with advanced structures for electrochemical energy storage (batteries). Student are who interested in applying must have experience in the general areas of materials, materials chemistry, or polymers. Previous wet-lab experience is an asset.

The group also has immediate positions for Master’s students to conduct fundamental work on polymers, polymer composites, and hybrid composites for batteries, functional materials, coatings, and solar cells. Note: Masters students already admitted into the program should contact Prof. Ian D. Hosein to discuss projects.

Students must first be admitted to the Chemical Engineering graduate program (Apply Here – Deadline is January 1st of the year of admission). Those who are interested in joining the group for the upcoming year may contact Prof. Ian D. Hosein to discuss research opportunities, potential fit in the lab, and the application process. In your email, please include the following:

  • The reasons for your interest in graduate research and in my research group.
  • Your resume, including any publications (or references to published work), relevant qualifications/skills, classes, and any additional material that you think may be relevant.
  • Your GPA and GRE (%) and any experience with polymers, materials (synthesis, characterization, measurement), and other laboratory techniques and methods.
