The Hosein group explores novel ways to harness light to make materials. The group’s work spans the spectrum from fundamental formation mechanisms, to materials fabrication, to application-driven research and development. We leverage our expertise in soft and inorganic materials synthesis and processing, a hybrid of fabrication methodologies, as well as novel materials characterization techniques to create new or advanced functionality in technologies. Current applications target solar-energy conversion, electrochemical energy storage, chemical separation, and smart coatings. Our group fosters a spirit of discovery, ingenuity, risk-taking, and out-of-the-box thinking, and places emphasis on student-led, independent research projects.
